The 9/11 Project
When America called for heroes, they answered. This is their story.
After the 9/11 attacks, Americans from all walks of life – “red state” and “blue state,” men and women, of all races and beliefs – came forward to do what they could for their country. Many chose to serve in the military.
The 9/11 Project is a story of a group of these “everyday heroes” – people who enlisted to serve in the War on Terror and their loved ones back home. It is a history of the first, incredible decade of the 21st century as seen through their eyes.
My goal in writing The 9/11 Project with a “mission” to try to get the average American to care what soldiers and their families go through when they are deployed in times of war.
Every September 11 that rolls around, year after year, phrases like “Never Forget” and “Never Again” are posted throughout the media. I’m hoping The 9/11 Project can be used as a reference point for discussion, understanding, and healing.
This new, revised edition – on sale at the Lions Quarter Store – is meant to be easier to produce, especially for college and less formal theater groups. There is a musical soundtrack that will be out in 2017. All lyrics for The 9/11 Project (and videos) can be found below and at http://www.dasmith911.com.
I hope you like the play.
PLEASE NOTE: Unlike my other titles this edition of The 9/11 Project will only be available in print until further notice. Also note that performance or photocopy rights are not included; for that you’ll need to contact me.
